In addition to older generations, we are especially interested in exposing the younger generation to this history and feel there is no better way than to have them take advantage of what the Depot Museum can offer. We feel certain that, after a guided tour of the Depot Museum, a number of the group will gain a greater respect for history, local and otherwise and hopefully acquire a lifelong interest in all things of an historical nature.
We can accommodate classes or groups of thirty students, possibly a few more. Any number of classes are welcome throughout the school year. We will tour the students Monday through Friday anytime between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. Our regular museum schedule is Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. We are glad to tour the students on any day.
The tours generally last about an hour, depending on how much participation from the students themselves. We do like for them to be involved.
After the museum tour and time permitting, we do like to board the students onto the Silver Palm Dining Car. We give them a short history of the dining car and will provide some quick snacks if that is permissible. Again, with permission, we like to photograph the group either inside the museum proper or outside in front of the dining car. These are for our webpage and quarterly newsletter. There is no charge or anything extra. We just need you to get the students here and we are looking forward to that happening.
